The Swim Squad Advantage

The Swim Squad was developed to create the highest quality at-home swimming lessons in the Country!  Our unique program allows you, the parent, to choose whatever dates and times you'd like for your swimming lessons!  We strive to be as convenient as possible to fit your needs, but that is not our main concern.  Swimming Safety is!  Our program differs from all other swimming lesson companies in one major way - we will teach your children to be safe in the pools they are most exposed to!  95% of all swimming lessons across the country take place at a public pool that looks something like this:

 Most all public pools have something called a "wet-step" which is a lower extension of the wall that typically contains about 1-2 inches of water.  Having a swimming lesson in a pool with a wet-step can give a child a false sense of security, as they are taught to reach out to grab the wall for safety.  According to the US Consumer Product Safety Commission, 98% of all drownings occur in a child's backyard pool, or a residential pool of a friend, relative or neighbor. 

This is your typical at-home residential pool.  There is an area for "wading" in knee deep water, but there are also areas around the pool with a very high wall.  The Swim Squad instructors will customize a lesson plan to practice falling in scenarios with your child.  If they were to fall in at the area of the high wall, we need to teach them to gather themselves, and kick towards the wading area, or lower wall.  A child will typically begin to panic when they are taught to immediately grab "out" to get the wall, and there is no wet-step present.
